F. prausnitzii is a commensal bacteria that has been shown in numerous microbiome analysis studies to be reduced in abundance in many disease states, such as IBD, Crohn’s disease, asthma, depression, and metabolic disorders including prediabetes and diabetes. Studies have also demonstrated the molecules expressed from F. prausnitizii , post biotics, also provide numerous health benefits. For a detailed description, click here.
-
When combined with leucine in specific ratios, pyridoxine was found to improve lean muscle and result in weight loss similar to that observed on a weight-loss diet. See publication here.
There is also evidence that Vitamin B6 mitigates postprandial hyperglycemia due to inhibition of carbohydrate-hydrolyzing enzymes and delay of glucose absorption. See publication here.
-
In addition to its benefits when given with vitamin B6, leucine has also been found to stimulate insulin release, reduce blood sugar, and reduce proteolysis in dogs. For a detailed description, click here.
-
Inulin is a prebiotic that promotes the growth of beneficial commensal bacteria and promotes intestinal health. See here.
-
Pawsni Metabolic Health incorporates organic Iceland kelp as an inactive palatant, however there are published studies that describe kelps benefit for healthy metabolism and healthy weight.

F. prausnitizii is a commensal bacteria (probiotic) found in the digestive system of all animals. F. prausnitzii and its metabolites have been found to be reduced in many unhealthy states and in higher abundance in healthy individuals. Numerous studies have also found F. prausnitzii to be an essential part of healthy microbiomes. In vivo and in vitro trials with strains used to produce Pawsni have also demonstrated metabolic health benefits.

Hundreds of papers have been published drawing correlations between a healthy microbiome and the probiotic F. prausnitzii in pets and humans. However, this probiotic is an obligate anaerobe and is very difficult to grow and formulate at commercial scale—until now. Pawsni contains paraprobiotics and post biotics (active molecules derived from F. prausntizii). These paraprobiotics and postbiotics have been proven to support gut and metabolic health.
