F. prausnitizii is a commensal bacteria (probiotic) found in the digestive system of all animals. F. prausnitzii and its metabolites have been found to be reduced in many unhealthy states and in higher abundance in healthy individuals. Numerous studies have also found F. prausnitzii to be an essential part of healthy microbiomes. In vivo and in vitro trials with strains used to produce Pawsni have also demonstrated metabolic health benefits.
